John Bumpus
Natural Medicine Practitioner
With over a decade of clinical experience, John Bumpus is a Natural Medicine Practitioner specialising in Nutritional Medicine with a focus on the therapeutic use of minerals.
His work is grounded in formal training across Holistic Health Science, Nutritional Balancing, and Herbal Medicine. He holds professional registration as a Chartered Practitioner, a credential recognised within Australia’s complementary health system that requires a minimum of a Bachelor-level qualification and ongoing professional development.
He uses Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) as a central tool in his practice, guiding structured programs that support mineral restoration, natural detoxification, and long-term well-being.
Over time, John’s consistent way of working has evolved into a clear and structured clinical model referred to as Integrative Mineral Balancing (InMB). While it draws from the broader field of Mineral Balancing, his approach reflects his own priorities: respecting the body’s timing, supporting foundational health, and providing steady, personalised care.

Where John Fits in the Broader Health Landscape
John’s work focuses on the foundational levels of care, where lasting change begins.
John is not a medical doctor, but he is also not simply a wellness coach or lifestyle advisor. His qualifications go beyond the level of a traditional naturopath, with a Bachelor in Holistic Health Science, advanced herbal training, and formal clinical education in Mineral Balancing. As a Natural Medicine Practitioner, his primary focus is nutritional medicine, using diet, targeted supplementation, and mineral science to guide the body’s capacity for change.
What distinguishes him further is his scientific focus on minerals as therapeutic agents, applied within a structured clinical framework. He works primarily within the first five levels of the Therapeutic Process model: beginning with assessment, guiding the body’s self-regulating systems, and applying targeted nutritional strategies to support progress.
Because every human body depends on the same fundamental mineral processes, this approach can benefit almost anyone, from those seeking to maintain good health to those addressing long-standing imbalances. The focus is always on building a stable foundation, regardless of age or current health status.
While many practitioners focus on either high-level diagnostics or general lifestyle advice, John’s approach bridges both structure and depth. He offers a distinct path of care, grounded in mineral science and delivered through a model that honours the body’s capacity for change.

John Bumpus - Practitioner Profile
A clear overview of his path, influences, and clinical focus.
John Bumpus’s interest in natural health began in his teens with a well-worn copy of David Wolfe’s Superfoods and, later, the newly released Longevity Now. What started as curiosity about organic food, superfoods, and herbal remedies soon became a hands-on exploration. John experimented, researched, and refined, learning not only what worked but also how difficult it could be to make healthy changes sustainable in real life.
That curiosity eventually brought him to Youngevity, where selling supplements gave him his first real insight into the role minerals play in human health. It also revealed the limitations of generic nutritional advice, fuelling his desire to learn more. Alongside this, he trained in nutrition and herbalism under renowned herbalist Dr. Terry Willard, building the skills that would later form part of his clinical work.
A spinal injury changed the course of his life, forcing him to step away from physical work and re-evaluate his future. Determined to stay in the health field, he used his savings to complete several courses he had already begun. At a conference during this period, a conversation with Dr. Joel Wallach, founder of Youngevity, introduced him to Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) as a way to pinpoint nutritional needs with precision.
John had been reading Dr. Lawrence Wilson’s work for years, and this was the push he needed to formally study Nutritional Balancing. As he applied the principles to his own health, he also began practising the meditative and mindset techniques taught by Dr. Joe Dispenza. The combination of targeted minerals and focused mental training became the foundation for a recovery that rebuilt both his body and his outlook on life.
Through this process, John rethought his approach to nutrition. He moved away from rigid dietary ideologies, favouring a nutrient-dense style of eating that adapts to individual needs. Around this time, he met his future wife, Erin, through a Facebook health group where they were both admins. Erin’s talent for turning complex ideas into practical frameworks helped transform John’s evolving methods into the structured approach now known as Integrative Mineral Balancing (InMB).
John later moved to Australia to be with Erin, and together they began laying the groundwork for the Mineral Balancing Clinic. Over time, he made a full recovery, earned his formal qualifications in natural medicine, and the two of them launched the clinic. Today, he draws on years of study, clinical experience, and personal insight to guide clients through structured, mineral-focused programs that build adaptability, resilience, and lasting change.
