Germanium (Ge)
While you may not have heard of this element, it has an exciting property that accepts and transmits electrons. Medicinally, it has been found to have antibiotic properties and is currently being studied for its use as a therapeutic agent. Biologically, germanium is a very efficient electrical impulse initiator intracellularly and functions as a metallic cofactor for oxygen.
Molybdenum for Copper Toxicity
The toxic effects of copper have been becoming more prevalent since the early ’80s. However, we have reached a point where the potential for copper excess is paramount. Estrogens, xenoestrogens, and increased copper retention in the kidneys, can contribute to a vicious cycle of estrogen dominance. As copper levels increase beyond healthy levels, the function of the liver becomes disrupted and can therefore no longer neutralise toxic chemicals or estrogen in the blood.
Food and Metabolic Typing
Hair testing is much more than just an analytical test which identifies nutrient and toxic mineral levels. It can also identify a person’s metabolic rate. With the identification of a person’s metabolic rate, we can then make suggestions regarding specific vitamin and mineral recommendations…
Teleology, Homeostasis and Adaptation
There are many concepts in Mineral Balancing Science, but there are three which are interrelated with each other. They are teleology, homeostasis and adaptation. We will discuss these concepts in this article…
Aluminium (Al)
If our ancestors were considered to live in the Iron Age or Bronze Age, then we have been living in the Age of Aluminium for about 125 years. Aluminium was once thought to be inert in biological systems, but since we now live in a time where it is so rampant and used in much of our technological society, aluminium has been in the spotlight under much investigation.
Metabolic Release
When you take specific nutrients to correct cellular metabolism, you are making changes to your body chemistry that could have been in place for years.
Fast Oxidation and Hypertension
Hypertension, or high blood pressure has been called a “silent killer” effecting over 1 billion people in the world. The reason why it is so silent is that you cannot “feel” high blood pressure. More than half of the people with hypertension (high blood pressure) are “salt-sensitive” (Preuss, 1997)
Mineral Tolerance: Understanding the Symptoms of Healing
Cadmium has a stimulant like effect that artificially raises sodium levels on a hair test and thus increases the adrenal gland function. It’s not that zinc makes people tired. But instead, that it encourages the detoxification of cadmium. The detoxification of cadmium, makes people fatigued.
Averaging Principle
The results of a hair tissue mineral analysis are not an exact number of your current level.
Light, What Matters
Living organisms can somehow reach down to the quantum domain and utilise its strange properties in order to operate the extraordinary machinery within living cells.
How to Cut a Hair Mineral Sample in 4 Easy Steps
The hair sampling procedure is very important for accurate hair tissue mineral analysis readings and sending in a high-quality sample cannot be over emphasised.
Na/K Ratio and Protein Intake
The following are general guidelines as to what type and how much protein is indicated for an individual with a sodium/potassium inversion.
Vitamin E
It has been estimated that by simply taking just 100 IU of vitamin E daily for those over 50 could save 5-6 billion dollars. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble nutrient that has eight active and naturally occurring plant constituents called tocopherols and tocotrienols. The various forms of vitamin E have overlapping and subtle biologic activities. Tocotrienols are less critical for biological physiology than tocopherols. Though tocotrienols have higher antioxidant activity than tocopherols, they have lower bioavailability following oral consumption.
5 Reasons We Are Not Getting Enough Nutrients
We often hear that it’s important to eat a well-balanced diet, containing at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, for us to be healthy. But in regards to nutrients, is it really enough, and are there other factors at play? And even though it may be enough for now, will it be enough in the future with increased forms of stress?
Metabolic Typing: The Science of Oxidation Rates
Metabolic Typing allows us to begin to develop nutritional programs that are much more personalised, instead of treating every person as if they are the same. We find that it when it is used clinically, it is particularly useful in the treatment and prevention of chronic health conditions. This is because it transcends the symptom-based, one-sized fits all approach of modern allopathy and modern nutritional or herbal sciences. By providing the person with specific nutrients that are required to balance their oxidation, we can begin to correct total body chemistry and support our inner physician, or our body’s innate intelligence.

Biological Replacement of Elements Theory
The basic premise of the Biological Replacement of Elements Theory is that the body has a preference for the elements which it uses for optimal biological functions. The body is intelligent and goal-orientated and the accumulation of toxic elements in the tissues occurs for a reason or purpose…
…When the preferred elements are not available through the diet, the body makes compensations by substituting the shortcoming with a less preferred, so-called toxic, element to maintain biological functions and to sustain homeostasis.
The Chain Reaction Principle: Why Just One Mineral Out of Balance Can Affect ALL the Others
Many people say that they are just taking a little bit of extra magnesium, zinc or vitamin C. Not realising the harm that they can cause by taking even one mineral supplement that they do not really need. In some instances, they may need the nutrient. but they are taking it in excessive amounts, further imbalancing their mineral levels and setting the stage for health conditions down the road
